Green Island

INTRODUCTION

Nestled 21 miles off Taiwan’s eastern coast, Green Island, or Ludao, offers an idyllic retreat from the bustling mainland. Far from the chaos of urban life, here you’ll find tranquillity amidst pristine coastlines, verdant mountains, and lush greenery. With a population of just over 3000 residents, this tiny island provides a serene sanctuary away from the hustle and bustle, where the only sounds are the gentle lapping of waves and the rustling of leaves in the breeze.

Itinerary

A day-by-day plan.

  • DAY

    1

    Taoyuan – Kaohsiung – Tjuvecekadan – Fangliao (L)

    The programme on day one may be slightly different depending on the season:

    July to August

    Meet at Taoyuan Airport and then take the high-speed train to Zuoying Station. Transfer to Shuangliu National Forest for a guided exploration of this protected area. Then, we will head to Kenting for our walk along the beach. Finally, transfer to our hotel in Fangliao in Ping Tung County. We will explore the train station area or night market for our dinner.

    September to June

    Meet at Taoyuan Airport and then take the high-speed train to Zuoying Station. Afterwards, transfer to a private vehicle to go to Tjuvecekadan for a Welcome Ceremony, guided tour to Taiwan’s only remaining Paiwan Indigenous Village where the homes are built with slate stone, and lunch prepared by Indigenous hosts, and traditional DIY activity. Finally, transfer to a hotel with an infinity pool overlooking the Taiwan Strait.

    2

    Fangliao – Jinshuiying National Trail – Taitung (B,D)

    We will start our day with breakfast at the hotel before making our way to the western trailhead of the Jingshuiying Historic Trail. Lace up your boots for an unforgettable 16-kilometer journey through untouched nature! This historical route winds through three protected reserves, crossing beautiful suspension bridges as we hike all the way to the East Coast.

    Keep an eye out for the incredible endemic plants and animals that call this lush environment home. To reward ourselves after the trek, we will head down to the Zhiben Hot Spring Hotel to soak our muscles and gather for a wonderful group dinner.

    3

    Zhiben – Chenggong – Green Island (B)

    We will fuel up with breakfast at the hotel before hitting the road, driving north along the picturesque east coast toward the famous Sanxiantai Arch Bridge. After sharing an early lunch overlooking the ocean, we will hop on a ferry to the beautiful Green Island. The island adventure kicks off in the afternoon with a guided SUP boarding session on the water, wrapping up with a fun, laid-back evening of dinner and socializing at a welcoming local hostel.

    4

    Green Island

    Wake up to the relaxing sounds of the ocean at our beachfront hostel. Today, you have the freedom to experience Green Island however you prefer. Spend the day unwinding and exploring at your leisure, or opt to join morning and afternoon snorkeling or scuba diving sessions (available for an additional cost).

    5

    Green Island – Kaohsiung

    Enjoy a leisurely morning before we board our private 9-passenger van for a guided tour around the island. As the ancestral home of the indigenous Tao Tribe, it offers rich cultural sights and stunning landscapes. After lunch, we will take the ferry back to the mainland and drive to Kaohsiung. We will check into our accommodation in the lively Pier-2 district, leaving you with free time to stroll the waterfront, browse the shops, and check out the local galleries.

    6

    Kaohsiung

    Enjoy a leisurely breakfast at the hotel before we pack up and check out for our final day together. We will spend our remaining time soaking in the sights of Kaohsiung, Taiwan’s dynamic second-largest city. From exploring its rich cultural landmarks and lively waterfront to kicking back on Cijin Island, we will make the most of our final hours. Our program ends here, concluding an unforgettable shared adventure!
