Buton

INTRODUCTION

Buton is an island in Southeast Sulawesi, Indonesia, known for its historical significance and natural resources. It was once home to the Buton Sultanate, leaving behind a rich cultural legacy, including the impressive Baubau Fortress, one of the largest in the world. The island is also known for its natural asphalt reserves and scenic landscapes, with a blend of forests, hills, and coastal views. Buton’s cultural heritage, traditional festivals, and historical sites make it an intriguing destination for visitors seeking both history and nature in a relatively off-the-beaten-path location.

Baubau is a coastal city located on Buton Island in Southeast Sulawesi, Indonesia. It serves as a gateway to the Wakatobi archipelago, a renowned marine national park known for its stunning coral reefs and rich biodiversity.

Wakatobi

INTRODUCTION

As a UNESCO Marine Biosphere Reserve, Wakatobi offers some of the best diving and snorkeling experiences in the world, with crystal-clear waters, vibrant coral gardens, and an abundance of marine life, including hundreds of fish species and rare sea creatures.

The archipelago, which consists of four main islands—Wangi-Wangi, Kaledupa, Tomia, and Binongko—also offers opportunities for eco-tourism, cultural encounters with the local Bajo sea nomads, and serene island landscapes. Wakatobi is a paradise for nature lovers and adventure seekers looking for both underwater exploration and tranquil island life.

ITINERARY

DAY 1: JAKARTA – BAUBAU

Depart to Baubau on 10 am flight. Reach Baubau at 15.25, and transfer to our accommodation at Baubau. Rest and free programme.

DAY 2: BAUBAU (B,L)

After breakfast, get ready for our water activities – snorkeling and diving.

DAY 3: BAUBAU–WAKATOBI (WANGIWANGI) (B,L)

After breakfast, please get ready to check out. We will be heading to the Lasalimu Harbor, which is about two hour’s drive away. We will take the 10:00ish AM fast boat to Wangiwangi, the capital of Wakatobi. The boat ride will take approximately two hours.

Upon arrival in Wangi Wangi around noon, we will transfer to our accommodation and have lunch. After settling in and resting, at around 2:30 pm, we will head out to our first snorkeling or dive site near Wangiwangi Island. If time permits, we will continue with another site; otherwise, we will head back to our accommodation and have a free program afterward.

DAY 7: TOMIA – BAUBAU – JAKARTA (B,L)

After breakfast, please get ready to check out and catch our fast boat ride back to Baubau at 8:20 AM. We will reach Pasarwajo or Lasalimu Port around 10:30 AM and then transfer to the airport at Baubau. We will have a lunch break along the way. We expect to arrive in Jakarta at almost 9 PM and then transfer to a hotel in Jakarta.

DAY 8: JAKARTA

Breakfast at your own time. Free programme. Transfer to the airport.
